Khampa Nomad Arts and Ecolodge
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for volunteers in 2017 and 2018.

Eco-Lodge Builder and Dreamer

We need help with building and landscaping the ecolodge! Specifically, we need help with installing lights and outlets in the sauna house; we need to plaster the sauna shower, we need to dig and build a stone dung-fired jacuzzi.  We also need to clean up the land from our pipe burying project.  We'd like to design and build a children's playground.  We'd like to prep our biogas greenhouse for a chicken coop. If you can help with any of these projects, please come join us!

We offer discounts for volunteers who stay 3 days or more!

Design Volunteer

We need help designing products appropriate for the Chinese domestic as well as international Markets.  Designers might work with woven yak hair or wool, leather, painted wood or other material, or clothing.  Please see http://www.flickr.com/photos/26221766@N06/collections/72157607053389993/ for more information of what we are working on now, and to get some idea of possibilities – though we want to go beyond this!

Designers will work with cooperative staff and artisans to design and create product prototypes.

We are willing to consider any applicant, but prefer those with educational or experiential background in arts or design.  Profeciency in Chinese or Tibetan is very useful, though not absolutely necessary.

This person needs to be on-site in Lhakang, and travel to other places in Ganzi Prefecture is likely, and depends upon the design concepts of the volunteer.

Marketing Volunteer

This volunteer would work with staff and other volunteers in China to create better publicity – including product and artisan photos, tags, website improvements, fliers, and product catalogs.  They would also work on Ebay marketing as well as other ideas they may come up with.

This person needs to have basic computer proficiency, and will be chosen based on enthusiasm and ideas for marketing improvement.  Also very valuable is photography skill, as well as some ability in Chinese or Tibetan language.

This person should be on-site in Lhakang, but internet work could also be done from elsewhere.

We can provide:

  • Housing (simple)
  • Transportation as needed to visit artisans
